Employee Rights
Right to Refuse: If you feel a job is unsafe talk to your supervisor. If a solution is not found contact a member of your JOHS Committee.
Right to Know: If a job has been refuesed by another employee, you have the right to know about it.
Right to Participate: At JOHS Meeting and morning tool box meetings.
Company Rules
All personnel will comply with all federal, provincial, municipal, company and client safety regulations, and our safety manual.
Maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times
Always work in the safest possible manner, for yourself and others. Never engage in "horseplay". It often results in injury. Running is not permitted anywhere, except in case of extreme emergency. No person shall ride any hook, hoist or other material handling equipment which is used strictly for handling material and not specifically designed to carry riders.
Employees are to wear the proper safety equipment on all jobsites.
Perform all work in accordance with safe work practices and your supervisor's directions
Report to your supervisor all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and near miss accidents.
Report all injuries or damage accidents immediately to your supervisor and office.
The use of alcohol or illegal drugs during the hours of employment, or reporting to work under the influence, is prohibited. (Such use impairs the employee and can result in an accident.) Any employee doing so may be subject to immediate dismissal.
Before operating any piece of equipment the employee shall ensure he /she is familiar with the equipment, and how to operate it. In doing so the employee assumes all responsibility regarding personal injury, equipment damage or property damage relating to improper use of the equipment. If he/she is unsure, they are not to use the equipment until they are fully trained.
Perform a pretrip and operate all vehicles and utility trailers in accordance with site rules and highway regulations
Only those tools that are in good repair, with all guards and safety devices in place, shall be used.
Employees are expected to work Monday through Friday and may be scheduled to work every 2ndSaturday as required. In the event an employee is sick he/she must phone William Gerhardt 902-527-6987, a medical note may be requested. Vacation time must be pre-arranged. Repeatedly not showing for work will lead to dismissal.
